Oregon's Invisible Ghost

Photographed and captioned by RP

This photo was taken in Portland, Oregon on the side of an old brick building. I saw this piece and initially only saw a homeless camp, but then I noticed the ghost sitting in the middle of their belongings. This piece of street art spoke to me as I caught a glimpse of it so I decided to take a picture. It shows how a homeless person might feel living on the streets. As people are walking down a busy street, a lot of people notice a homeless person, but do they truly see them? When you see a homeless person or an area with a heavy homeless population, do you ever think about how that person feels or what might have led them to this moment? The person who created this, who may have been homeless themselves, might have felt they were a ghost, not being noticed in the chaos of people's daily lives. This ghost looks like they might be lonely and the artist wanted to express how they feel sitting in the midst of the chaos.
